Giving and Receiving

Film by the Graines de Rêves Workshop Produced by the Académie In Vivo team (Sorgues) In collaboration with the Insercall Association of Avignon – 2025

The Giving and Receiving Workshop is like a message in a bottle cast out to sea, where every word becomes an echo of what we offer to the world, and a whisper of what we hope to receive in return.

We are the seeds of our dreams.”

Shanti Panchal

This film is part of a series of videos produced by the Académie In Vivo, exploring questions of roots, homeland and home: do we belong to a geographical territory? Shanti Panchal is a renowned London-based painter who left India to work in Britain in 1978. He explains: “The world is a stage on which each of us has a role to play. On this stage, we are destined for a mission. There is an entrance and an exit. And this personal journey of self-discovery, through the obscure events of our lives, allows us to see beyond the realities that confront us every day...”

Giving and Receiving

This video was made after an art workshop that invites participants to create messages in a bottle. Between words, materials and images, each person deposits a fragment of themselves, and discovers what others have left behind in return.

A simple, poetic gesture to explore the act of giving and receiving: to oneself, to others, to the unknown.”

La passion de transmettre

This documentary was made during the first wave of the pandemic, when the whole world was in lockdown. For directors Marine d’Aboville and Enrico Clarelli, it was a chance to reinvent themselves while all their activities were on hold.

They felt an absolute need to bear witness, in a fundamental way, to “the passion for passing on knowledge,” a theme at the heart of the Académie In Vivo. Christiane Botbol made the decision in 2019, just before the global crisis, to donate all her works of art and craft to the MUCEM in Marseille and to the National Museum of Benin.
